TORONTO, Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Jeff Carter put Los Angeles in front midway through the third period Wednesday and rookie Martin Jones had another big game in the Kings' 3-1 win over Toronto.
Los Angeles won its fifth in a row, the last two coming at the start of a four-game road trip.
Jones made his fourth NHL start and he has won them all. After helping the Kings to a shootout win over Anaheim on Dec. 3, he blanked both the New York Islanders and Montreal.
His shutout streak ended with 5:30 left in the second period when Cody Franson scored on the power play to lift Toronto in a 1-1 tie. Jones finished with 38 saves.
Carter's eighth goal of the season with 10:20 to play was the game-winner and Kyle Clifford added an insurance goal with 1:59 left.
Jonathan Bernier stopped 20-of-23 shots.
