SACRAMENTO, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Two 3-pointers from Jodie Meeks fueled a game-closing run Friday that rallied the Los Angeles Lakers to a 106-100 victory over Sacramento.
The Lakers hope the game against the Kings will be their last in the foreseeable future without superstar Kobe Bryant. It was announced Friday that Bryant plans to play for the first time this season on Sunday when the Lakers host Toronto.
Bryant has been out of action thus far this year while recovering from Achilles tendon surgery.
Sacramento had a three-point lead with less than four minutes to play, but the Lakers then finished off the contest on a 14-5 run. A 3-pointer by Meeks brought the Lakers within one with 2:48 to go and another one with 1:10 remaining put the Lakers up by four.
Meeks and Pau Gasol both scored 19 points and Nick Young added 14 for the Lakers. Los Angeles compiled a 10-9 record without Bryant to start the season.
Sacramento, which lost its sixth in a row, was led by 20 points each from DeMarcus Cousins and Ben McLemore.
