NBA: Cleveland 98, Denver 88

CLEVELAND, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- Kyrie Irving's 23 points and Tristan Thompson's career-best 21 rebounds Wednesday lifted Cleveland to its second straight win -- 98-88 over Denver.

It is the first time this season the Cavaliers have recorded back-to-back victories, a glimmer of success that followed five consecutive losses. The outcome ended Denver's seven-game winning streak.

Thompson added 17 points to go with his big game on the boards,

Anderson Varejao came off the bench to supply 18 points and 13 rebounds.

Randy Foye led Denver with 16 points and J.J. Hickson had 15.

Cleveland shot a modest 40 percent, but claimed 20 offensive rebounds and committed just 10 fouls to 22 for the Nuggets.
