WASHINGTON, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Mikhail Grabovski scored the deciding goal in the fourth round of the shootout Friday, giving Washington a 3-2 victory over Montreal.
The Capitals ended a four-game losing streak with Grabovski also forcing overtime by scoring with 5:32 to go in the third period. Montreal had won four in a row.
Both teams converted their first two shootout attempts and missed their third. Grabovski came through to start the fourth round, after which Braden Holtby stopped Tomas Plekanec to secure the victory.
Montreal twice took a one-goal lead on scores from Daniel Briere and Plekanec. Grabovski's game-tying goal was the only score of the third period.
Holtby made 35 saves while Peter Budaj stopped 24 shots in a losing effort.
