NASHVILLE, Nov. 28 (UPI) -- Ilya Bryzgalov made 33 saves in his first full game of the season Thursday, bringing Edmonton a 3-0 blanking of Nashville.
Bryzgalov has spent 10 years in the NHL -- four with both Anaheim and Phoenix and two with Philadelphia. He had been playing for Edmonton's minor league team in Oklahoma City until a recent callup and his only previous appearance had been 34 minutes of relief.
It was the 31st shutout of his career.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins tipped in a shot to give Edmonton the lead in the second period and Taylor Hall scored 51 seconds later.
Jordan Eberle added an empty-net tally with 57 seconds left in the third, clinching a win for the team with the worst record in the Western Conference.
Marek Mazanec, coming off his second shutout of the season, suffered the loss while stopping 25 shots.
