MILWAUKEE, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun said he is "deeply remorseful" but refused to discuss details of his 65-game suspension for using banned substances.

Meeting with reporters Wednesday for the first time since the season-ending suspension in July, Braun said he regretted his actions but refused repeatedly to discuss details, saying "in an effort to move forward, I'm not going to discuss that subject," the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

"I'm not really going to go into any further details," he said. "I'm deeply remorseful about what happened. I wish I had the ability to go back and change things and do things a lot differently, but unfortunately I can't do that."

Braun -- who was named National League MVP in 2011 when he finished with 33 home runs, 111 RBI, 109 runs scored and 33 stolen bases -- said he would "do everything in my power to earn back peoples' trust and respect and support" while admitting it was unlikely everyone would be willing to forgive him.

Braun, 30, was sanctioned after a long battle with Major League Baseball over his association with the Biogenesis clinic of Miami, which was found to have distributed performance-enhancing drugs to several MLB players.

He disputed the positive results of a 2011 drug test, suggesting to the media the urine sample had been tampered with by MLB's specimen collector, Dino Laurenzi Jr.

Braun told the Journal Sentinel he had dinner with Laurenzi Tuesday, saying the pair "made amends and I think we're both excited to be able to move forward and put this behind us."
