NHL: Florida 3, Philadelphia 1

SUNRISE, Fla., Nov. 25 (UPI) -- Tim Thomas made 38 saves and Sean Bergenheim scored twice Monday in the Florida Panthers a 3-1 win over Philadelphia.

Thomas turned aside 19-of-20 shots during a frantic third period, backstopping the Panthers to their third win in six contests in the opener of a five-game homestand.

Erik Gudbranson helped out with a goal and an assist.

Wayne Simmonds got the only goal for the Flyers, who fell for just the second time in eight games.

Steven Mason yielded three goals on 31 shots.
