RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Carolina's Cam Ward turned aside 35-of-36 shots and the Hurricanes put in a trio of second-period goals Sunday to skate past Ottawa 4-1.

Ward made several sparkling stops, including a diving stick save against Colin Greening, as the Hurricanes broke a four-game losing streak.

Carolina was trailing 1-0 after the first period but goals from Patrick Dwyer, Tuomo Ruutu and Elias Lindholm within 6 minutes in the second put the game away.

Eric Staal added an empty-netter and two assists.

Jason Spezza scored and Robin Lehner made 33 saves for the Senators, who fell to 1-1-0 on a three-game road trip.
