NHL: Philadelphia 5, New York Islanders 2

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- Matt Read scored two goals for the second straight game Saturday, carrying the Philadelphia Flyers over the New York Islanders 5-2.

Claude Giroux and Wayne Simmonds helped out with a goal and assist each for the Flyers, who completed a three-game homestand sweep and earned at least a point in a seventh consecutive contest.

Brayden Schenn also scored for Philadelphia.

Steve Mason recorded 36 saves for the winners.

Eric Boulton and John Tavares scored for the struggling Islanders, who lost for the eighth time in 10 games.

Kevin Poulin started in net but was lifted after yielding three quick goals in the second period.

Anders Nilsson stopped 12-of-13 shots the rest of the way.
