PITTSBURGH, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Sidney Crosby scored on a slap shot with 1:16 to play Friday, boosting Pittsburgh to a 4-3 win over the New York Islanders.
Pittsburgh has captured three in a row and won at home for the 10th time in 13 games.
Colin McDonald and Thomas Vanek tallied 1:19 apart in the second period to bring New York back from a two-score deficit and the game appeared headed for overtime when Crosby produced his 12th goal of the season and the 250th of his career.
Chris Kunitz scored twice on the power play in the first period to put the Penguins in front and he also assisted on Crosby's goal. The other Pittsburgh score came from Evgeni Malkin early in the second period. It was his first goal in 15 games, which had been the longest scoring drought of his eight-year career.
The win went to Jeff Zatkoff, who made 32 saves. Kevin Pulin stopped 30-of-34 shots.
