NHL: St. Louis 4, Carolina 2

ST. LOUIS, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Alex Steen notched the go-ahead goal in the third period Saturday and the St. Louis Blues stayed on a roll with a 4-2 victory over Carolina.

Steen's 17th goal of the season came 6:20 into the final period and broke a 2-2 tie.

Roman Polak and David Backes also scored, and T.J. Oshie added an empty-netter as St. Louis logged its eighth win in 10 games.

Brian Elliott stopped 18 shots in his third start of the season.

Nathan Gerbe and Eric Staal each scored for Carolina, which had won 4-of-5 games coming into the contest.

Justin Peters made 28 saves for the Hurricanes.
