NHL: Buffalo 3, Toronto 1

BUFFALO, N.Y., Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Ryan Miller allowed a lone goal on 33 shots Friday and Buffalo gave Ted Nolan a victory in his return to the bench with a 3-1 win over Toronto.

The Sabers dismissed both Coach Ron Rolston and General Manager Darcy Regier Wednesday after the team managed only four wins in its first 20 games.

Nolan was hired for his second tenure as coach of the Sabres, having led the team from 1995-97. Pat LaFontaine, a star with the Sabres for six seasons during the 1990s, was named president of hockey operations and will hire a new general manager.

The Sabres responded to the changes by overcoming an early deficit with Steve Ott registering a goal and an assist.

Ott tied the game midway through the second period with a power-play goal and Marcus Foligno put the Sabres in front to stay with 4:38 to go in the middle stanza.

Christian Ehrhoff added an empty-net goal with 28 seconds remaining.

Toronto lost its third straight with Jonathan Bernier stopping 24-of-26 shots.
