RALEIGH, N.C., Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Justin Peters made 21 saves Thursday in his best effort of the season and carried Carolina to a 1-0 victory over the New York Islanders.
Peters won for the second time in seven appearances and recorded the third shutout of his career. He has had one shutout in each of the last two seasons. Peters gave up an average of 3.05 goals per game in his first six outings of the campaign.

The only goal came from Radek Dvorak on a tip-in 6:39 into the contest. It was his third of the season. Carolina entered the game with the third fewest goals in the NHL.
Kevin Poulin, making his fourth start of the year, suffered the hard-luck setback while stopping 23 shots.
