CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 6 (UPI) -- A layup by Michael Kidd-Gilchrist gave Charlotte its only points over the final 3:54 Wednesday, allowing the Bobcats to fight off Toronto 92-90.
Charlotte took a 90-82 lead when Bismark Biyombo made a free throw, but the Raptors then rallied to within two in the final 30 seconds.
Toronto had a chance to tie it on a short jumper by DeMar DeRozan with 27.9 seconds to go, but he missed and Kidd-Gilchrist grabbed the rebound.
With a two-second difference between the shot clock and game clock, Toronto chose to play defense rather than commit a foul.
That strategy backfired when Josh McRoberts grabbed an offensive rebound to seal the victory after Charlotte's Gerald Henderson misfired on a 3-pointer with four seconds to play.
Henderson scored 23 points and Kidd-Gilchrist had 14. Charlotte turned the ball over only eight times and hit 49 percent of its shots.
Rudy Gay paced Toronto with 20 points.
