Steelers' Haley must pay $10K kennel bill

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- A Pittsburgh Steelers coach and his wife must pay a kennel operator more than $10,000 for boarding the family's four dogs for five months.

Todd Haley, the Steelers' offensive coordinator and a former NFL head coach with the Kansas City Chiefs, must pay Nick Fiscante $10,090 for boarding the family's four English bulldogs from March to July 2012, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Tuesday.

Fiscante filed a civil action against Haley and his wife, Christine, in August. A judge ordered the couple to pay up but the Haleys appealed. Appearing in court on Monday, Christine Haley told the judge she paid Fiscante $3,000 but refused to pay the rest because after living under his care, two of the dogs had become so aggressive they had to be given away for fear they would attack the couple's children.

"Your little kids say, 'Where are George and Frank?' because they want their dogs back. We couldn't take a risk to have them hurt," Christine Haley said.

The appeals court sided with Fiscante and ordered the Haleys to pay the bill.
