NFL: Carolina 34, Atlanta 10

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Cam Newton threw for 249 yards with a touchdown and ran for a score Sunday, elevating Carolina over Atlanta 34-10 for the Panthers' fourth straight win.

Newton made good on 23-of-37 passes and overcame a pair of interceptions for the Panthers (5-3), who moved within one game of New Orleans in the NFC South.

Greg Olsen led the Carolina receiving corps with four catches for 66 yards and a touchdown.

The Falcons (2-6) remained winless on the road as Matt Ryan was picked off three times. He finished with 219 yards and a TD pass on 20-of-27 efficiency.

Steven Jackson picked up 57 rushing yards on 13 carries.

Tony Gonzalez made six grabs for 81 yards and a score for Atlanta.
