NHL: New York Rangers 2, Buffalo 0

NEW YORK, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Henrik Lundqvist made 27 saves in recording a shutout Thursday, bringing the New York Rangers a 2-0 decision over Buffalo.

The Rangers won at home for the first time this season in what was only their second game at Madison Square Garden. New York played its first 10 games of the campaign on the road.

Lundqvist has won only three times this year, but two of those victories have been shutouts. He has blanked the opposition 47 times in his nine-year career.

Buffalo has dropped three straight to bring its NHL-leading loss total to 13. The Sabres are now the only team left in the league without a home victory, having dropped all eight of their games in Buffalo.

Derick Brassard opened the scoring with a slap shot on the power play 8:23 into the contest. The other New York goal came from Chris Kreider in the second period.

Those two goals against Ryan Miller were produced on 44 shots.
