OTTAWA, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Backup goalie Alex Stalock recorded 38 saves in his first NHL start Sunday, helping lift the San Jose Sharks over Ottawa 5-2.
Stalock manned the net after Antti Niemi was given his first night off following 11 straight starts to begin the season.

Tommy Wingels and James Sheppard each provided a goal and an assist as the streaking Sharks ran their record to 10-1-1.
Tomas Hertl, Andrew Desjardins and Joe Pavleski each scored a goal for San Jose.
Erik Karlsson had a goal and an assist, Marc Methot scored a goal and Craig Anderson made 24 saves for the Senators.
