NHL: Philadelphia 5, New York Islanders 2

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Vincent Lecavalier recorded his fifth career hat trick Saturday, powering the Philadelphia Flyers over the New York Islanders 5-2.

Lecavalier scored two goals in the first period, sandwiched around a tally by Jakub Voracek for a 3-1 Flyers lead.

He added another goal in the third and Matt Read contributed an empty-netter as Philadelphia won a second straight following a four-game losing streak.

Steve Mason turned aside 26-of-28 shots.

Frans Nielsen and Kyle Okposo scored for the Islanders, who were coming off a 4-3 win over Pittsburgh Friday.

Kevin Poulin made 27 saves for New York.
