NHL: Anaheim 2, Ottawa 1

OTTAWA, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Patrick Maroon and Ryan Getzlaf gave Anaheim an early lead Friday and the Ducks held on to edge Ottawa 2-1.

Frederik Andersen stopped 26-of-27 shots in his first NHL start, helping Anaheim improve to 1-2 on its eight-game road trip. The Senators had won three of their previous four.

Maroon opened the scoring 7:35 into the game and Getzlaf boosted the lead with 2:28 left in the first period. Maroon had scored just two goals in his first 21 NHL games scattered over three seasons, but has now produced two scores in as many nights. He had the lone goal in Anaheim's loss to Montreal on Thursday.

Mika Zibanejad, called up by the Senators earlier this week and playing in his second game of the season, cut Ottawa's deficit in half midway through the second period.

Craig Anderson took the loss, giving up the two goals on 28 shots.

Andersen had made one other appearance prior to getting the start Friday. He came on in relief of Jonas Hiller last Sunday and was credited with the victory when Anaheim rallied to a 6-3 victory over Dallas.
