DENVER, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Denver Broncos quarterback and NFL passing leader Peyton Manning missed practice Wednesday due to a minor ankle injury, the quarterback said.
Manning, who tops the league with 2,565 passing yards and 25 touchdown tosses, sustained the injury during the 6-1 Broncos' first loss of the season Sunday -- a 39-33 defeat at Indianapolis.

The 37-year-old signal-caller said he would return to practice Thursday.
The four-time NFL MVP likely will be available for this weekend's contest against the Washington Redskins.
