NHL: Washington 4, Columbus 1

WASHINGTON, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Braden Holtby stopped 37-of-38 shots Saturday, backstopping the Washington Capitals over Columbus 4-1.

The Caps benefited from a balanced scoring attack, getting goals from Joel Ward, Alex Ovechkin, Troy Brouwer and Brooks Laich.

Martin Erat helped out with three assists as Washington won for the second time in three games.

Sergei Bobrovsky allowed four goals on 39 shots for the Blue Jackets, who stumbled to their fourth straight loss.

Artem Anisimov notched the only Columbus goal.
