David Ferrer to face Grigor Dimitrov in Stockholm Open final

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- Top-seeded David Ferrer overcame a tough opponent and will meet Grigor Dimitrov for the Stockholm Open crown after each logged a semifinal win Saturday.

Spain's Ferrer, coming off a walkover victory over fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco in Friday's quarterfinals, struggled against Latvia's Ernests Gulbis before emerging with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 triumph.

After Gulbis had rallied from a 1-4 deficit in the second set, Ferrer rebounded to win the final two games and then reeled off five straight games in the third to salt away the victory.

Ferrer will be seeking his third title of 2013 and the 21st of his career.

His opponent, the 22-year-old Bulgarian Dimitrov, came from behind to post a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Frenchman Benoit Paire in the day's other semifinal.

The No. 7 seed gained just his second career final -- his only other title tilt appearance came in January when he fell to Andy Murray at Brisbane.
