ST. LOUIS, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Joe Thornton supplied a goal and three assists Tuesday and the San Jose Sharks cruised to a sixth straight win in a brawl-filled 6-2 rout of St. Louis.

The two early goals came shortly after the teams had engaged in a nasty brawl, triggered when Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle was slammed into the boards from behind by the Blues' Maxim Lapierre.

Boyle was carried from the ice on a stretcher.

"Dan was alert and moving his extremities and has been taken to a local hospital for evaluation," the team said in a statement.

Patrick Marleau notched a goal and two assists while Scott Hannan and Tommy Wingels also scored for San Jose, which improved to 6-0-0 on the season.

Antti Niemi stopped 25-of-27 shot in the victory.
