CHICAGO, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Corey Crawford stopped 28 shots Saturday, including 12-of-13 in the third period, and the Chicago Blackhawks held off winless Buffalo 2-1.

Chicago used goals from Ben Smith and Patrick Kane to take a 2-0 lead into the third period, and the Sabres responded with a desperate blitz in the Blackhawks' zone.
