FORT WORTH, Texas, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Deion Sanders was removed from his role as coach and part-time operator of the Fort Worth, Texas, charter school he helped create, the school website announced.

It follows an on-campus incident Wednesday in which Sanders, 46, was accused of assaulting an employee at the Dallas campus of the school, WFAA-TV, Dallas, reported.

School finance administrator Kevin Jefferson told Dallas police Sanders attacked him during a meeting.

Jefferson has filed a formal complaint against Sanders, the newspaper said.

Sanders admits confronting Jefferson but denies injuring him, telling WFAA-TV: "Mr. Jefferson and I got into a confrontation about the welfare of these kids, and we'll get into another one. Until you start taking care of these kids, I'm going to be on a rampage."
