He was the only player to finish with back-to-back birdies but Alvaro Quiros, Simon Thornton, Maximilian Kieffer and Graeme Storm all birdied the last hole they played Thursday to get a share of the lead.

Also at 6-under are Jamie Donaldson, who was in front alone until he bogeyed the next-to-last hole Thursday, and Felipe Aguilar, who had six birdies over Nos. 10-17.

Even more players -- nine -- are tied one stroke off the lead and 13 are at 4-under. That leaves 29 players within two strokes of first place after the first round.

Kieffer was the only player among the leaders to go bogey-free in the first round. He started on the back nine of the Oceanico Victoria Golf Course. He had an eagle at the par-5, 593-yard 12th and added four birdies on the front nine.
