NHL: Vancouver 3, New Jersey 2 (OT)

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Jason Garrison's goal in overtime Tuesday lifted the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-2 victory over the visiting New Jersey Devils.

Garrison fired a shot from the slot that deflected off Marek Zidlicky and past former Canuck Cory Schneider for the winner a 2:18 of the extra period.

Daniel Sedin and Alexander Edler scored in regulation for the Canucks, who have won three consecutive games. Roberto Luongo made 21 saves and did not face any shots in overtime.

Schneider, who was traded to New Jersey in the offseason, stopped 29 shots in the loss. Jaromir Jagr and Patrik Ellas scored for the Devils.

New Jersey held a 2-0 lead midway through the second period. Vancouver responded in the same period with two goals, including Edler's wrist shot that tied the game at 13:47 of the second period.
