MLS: Columbus 4, FC Dallas 2

FRISCO, Texas, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Federico Higuain and Jairo Arrieta each scored in the first half Sunday and the Columbus Crew helped their playoff chances with a 4-2 win over FC Dallas.

Higuain opened the scoring in the 9th minute and Arrieta struck 11 minutes later with a sharp volley off a low cross from Dominic Oduro for the Crew (12-14-5), who moved into a tie with New England for sixth place in the Eastern Conference -- one point out of the final playoff spot with three matches left.

Oduro scored in the 44th minute for a 3-1 lead and Bernardo Anor capped the Crew's scoring in the 86th.

Blas Perez and Mauro Diaz tallied for Dallas (10-10-10), which remained eighth in the West, five points out of fifth place.
