MLB: Atlanta 12, Philadelphia 5

ATLANTA, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Elliot Johnson drove in five runs and Gerald Laird went 4-for-4 with four runs scored Sunday in the Atlanta Braves' season-ending 12-5 rout of Philadelphia.

Evan Gattis belted a two-run homer for the National League East champion Braves, who fell one game short of St. Louis in the race for home field advantage throughout the NL post-season.

At 96-66, Atlanta finished with its best record since 2004. The Braves next play Thursday in the NL Division Series, when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers at Turner Field.

Julio Teheran (14-8) earned the win despite surrendering four runs on six hits through five innings.

Zack Miner (0-2) was rocked for five runs on seven hit over just 2 1/3 innings for Philadelphia (73-89), which closed the season with nine losses in 11 games.
