MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers 4, San Diego 0

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Clayton Kershaw hurled seven shutout innings Saturday, striking out 10 in leading the Los Angeles Dodgers over San Diego 4-0.

Kershaw (15-9) scattered three hits and walked two in the 99-pitch performance, lowering his ERA to a major league-best 1.88. Only Sandy Koufax has ever finished a season with a sub-2.00 ERA for the Dodgers.

A.J. Ellis bashed a two-run homer in the fourth and Yasiel Puig added a mammoth, 447-foot shot with Kershaw aboard in the seventh for National League West champion Los Angeles.

San Diego's Burch Smith (1-2) walked five over six innings, allowing two runs on three hits while fanning six.
