CHICAGO, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Andrelton Simmons smashed two homers Sunday and the Atlanta Braves downed the Chicago Cubs 5-2 after winning the National League East title.
The Braves clinched their first NL East title since 2005 before the game was completed when the Miami Marlins downed the Washington Nationals in the first game of a doubleheader.

Freddie Freeman also went deep for Atlanta, which took two of three from Chicago.
Julio Teheran (13-8) earned the decision, yielding one run on four hits while striking out seven over six innings.
Cubs starter Edwin Jackson (8-17) took the loss, surrendering three runs on eight hits in six full innings.
Dioner Navarro and Starlin Castro each drove in a run for Chicago.
