MLB: Houston 13, Seattle 2

SEATTLE, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Jordan Lyles pitched six strong innings Tuesday and had plenty of offensive help while leading the Houston Astros to a 13-2 rout of the Seattle Mariners.

Jose Altuve, L.J. Hoes and Brandon Laird all collected three RBI in support of Lyles (7-7), who held Seattle to two runs -- one earned -- on four hits and struck out five over six innings to notch the win.

Jonathan Villar added to Houston's 17-hit attack with a solo home run and Chris Carter went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Joe Saunders (11-14) ended up with the loss after a rough three-inning start for the Mariners, who lost their third consecutive game. Saunders allowed six runs on seven hits.

Franklin Gutierrez had two of Seattle's five hits and drove in both Mariner runs.
