MLS: Portland 4, Toronto FC 0

PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Portland's Kalif Alhassan broke a scoreless tie late in the first half Saturday and the Timbers went on to a 4-0 win over Toronto FC.

Rodney Wallace, captain Will Johnson -- returning after a four-game injury absence -- and Diego Valeri each scored in the closing minutes to put the game away as Portland (10-5-12) snapped a two-game skid.

The win enabled the Timbers stay tied with Colorado for fourth place in the Western Conference.

Toronto fell to 4-13-10 as its winless streak stretched to five games.
