KANSAS CITY, Kan., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Claudio Bieler scored one goal and assisted on another Saturday in Sporting Kansas City's 3-0 win over Columbus.
Bieler's penalty-kick tally early in the game opened the scoring and he set up another first-half goal by Soony Saad for Eastern Conference-leading Kansas City 13-9-6), which extended its lead over second-place Montreal and New York to three points.
C.J. Sapong also scored for SKC.
Columbus fell to 9-15-5 with the loss, its first under interim Manager Brian Bliss.
