LOS ANGELES, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- U.S. professional basketball player Lamar Odom left a rehabilitation center about a day after seeking help for his drug problems, People.com reported.

Odom, 33, left the facility accompanied by an assistant Thursday afternoon and was later seen in Los Angeles, two sources told the entertainment magazine.

His brief rehab stint came after he was arrested last week for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. He was suspended by the NBA twice in 2001 for violating the league's drug policy, reportedly for using marijuana.

The athlete's substance abuse also reportedly has caused tremendous strain on his marriage to reality TV personality Khloe Kardashian.

The free agent NBA forward, who has averaged 13.3 points and 8.4 rebounds during his career, played last season for the Los Angeles Clippers, his second stint with the team. He previously played for Dallas, the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami. He helped the Lakers to two NBA titles.
