VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Tom Heinemann scored late in stoppage time Sunday, handing the Vancouver Whitecaps a late 2-2 tie with Chivas USA.
Vancouver (10-9-7) was trailing 2-0 in the second half when Gershon Koffie halved the deficit after a clearing try by Chivas goalkeeper Dan Kennedy came right to him in the 64th minute.
Then with time running out, Heinemann unleashed a shot off a cross from Erik Hurtado that went in for the equalizer.
Erick Torres scored twice in the first half for Chivas (5-14-7).
