Deduno (8-7) struck out six and quickly recovered from a shaky first inning in which he gave up a run on two singles and two wild pitches.

Minnesota took the lead in its half of the second on RBI doubles from Pedro Florimon and Chris Herrmann. The Twins then nursed a one-run lead until the seventh, when Josh Willingham doubled home two runs.

Ubaldo Jimenez (9-8) was saddled with the hard-luck loss after surrendering only two runs in six innings. He struck out a season-high 10.
