PARKER, Colo., Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Caroline Hedwall's close 1-up win over Michelle Wie Sunday highlighted a dominating victory by Europe over the United States to retain the Solheim Cup.
Hedwall's singles triumph over Wie enabled her to become the first participant in event history to log an undefeated week -- she went 5-0 to pace the European squad.

Leading 10 1/2-5 1/2 coming into Sunday's final singles round, Charley Hull got Europe off to good start with a 5 & 4 rout of American Paula Creamer.
The Europeans officially clinched the title when Catriona Matthew halved her match with Gerina Piller.
