SEATTLE, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Denver Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe escaped serious injury in a collision with an opposing player during a weekend exhibition game, the team said Sunday.
Wolfe was carted off the field on a stretcher in the first quarter of Saturday's 40-10 pre-season loss to Seattle following a head-first collision with Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson in the first quarter, USA Today reported.
The second-year pro out of Cincinnati was hospitalized in Seattle for evaluation, during which he was checked for a cervical spine injury and underwent several tests, including X-ray, CT and MRI scans.
"All tests were negative, and he will accompany the team on its flight back to Denver," the Broncos said in a statement.
Wolfe compiled 40 tackles and six sacks in 16 games last season for the Broncos.
