FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Tom Brady bounced back from this week's injury scare to throw a touchdown pass Friday and New England fought off Tampa Bay for a 25-21 exhibition win.
Brady led the Patriots 80 yards in 15 plays the first time they had the ball and ended the march with a 26-yard throw to Danny Amendola. The New England quarterback completed 11-of-12 passes for 107 yards.
During a scrimmage against Tampa Bay Wednesday, Brady was hit in the left knee and limped off the field. He suffered only a sprain, however, erasing concerns he had suffered damage to the knee.
Tim Tebow also quarterbacked for the Patriots, putting in an unimpressive performance in which he completed only 1-of-7 passes for minus 1 yard.
Ryan Mallett threw a scoring pass for New England in the second quarter and Logan Ryan returned an interception from Tampa Bay's Mike Glennon for a 53-yard touchdown.
Glennon, however, threw scoring passes of 13 yards to Kevin Ogletree in the second quarter and 1 yard to David Douglas in the fourth.
New England is 2-0 in exhibition play and the Buccaneers are 0-2.
