TORONTO, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Shane Victorino drove in two runs with an 11th-inning single Tuesday, hoisting the Boston Red Sox over Toronto 4-2.

Saltalamacchia advanced to third and Middlebrooks was erased at second base on Jacoby Ellsbury's groundout, but with Victorino at the plate, Ellsbury stole second and both runners scored when Victorino grounded a pitch up the middle for a hit.

Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia each contributed an RBI for American League East-leading Boston, which extended its lead over second-place Tampa Bay to four games with a win in the opener of a three-game series.

Koji Uehara (3-0) earned the decision with 1 1/3 scoreless innings after Bosox starter Ryan Dempster yielded just one run on four hits over seven innings.

J.P. Arencibia went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two RBI for the Blue Jays.
