CHICAGO, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Chris Sale went the distance for a complete-game victory Monday and the Chicago White Sox rode his performance to a 6-2 win over Detroit.

Sale (8-11) notched his American League-best fourth complete game of the season and fifth of his career, holding the Tigers to two runs on nine hits. The left-hander didn't issue a walk and struck out six in the victory.

Josh Phegley supplied two RBI, including a run-scoring single during a three-run, fifth-inning uprising that rallied the White Sox from a 2-1 deficit.

Gordon Beckham went 3-for-5 with a run batted in while Jeff Keppinger also contributed three hits and scored twice as the Chisox took the opener of a three-game series.

Doug Fister (10-6) absorbed the loss for the American League Central-leading Detroit, yielding four runs on eight hits in a six-inning effort.

Miguel Cabrera clouted his 37th homer and raised his AL-best RBI total to 111 in the loss.
