MLS: Sporting KC 3, New England 0

KANSAS CITY, Kan., Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Kei Kamara knocked home two headers Saturday and Sporting Kansas City grabbed first place in the Eastern Conference with a 3-0 win over New England.

SKC opened the scoring in the 27th minute when Soony Saad ran past New England's Lee Nguyen and found Kamara with a cross into the penalty area. The Kansas City forward then elevated a header over Revolution goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth.

Kamara made it 2-0 in the 50th minute off another Saad assist and Benny Feilhaber added a goal off a free kick in stoppage time for Kansas City (11-7-6), which broke a two-game losing streak and moved one point ahead of New York atop the East.

Defender Kevin Alston marked his return to lineup after being diagnosed with leukemia for New England (8-9-6).
