NEW YORK, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Matt Harvey allowed four hits in the first shutout of his career Wednesday, carrying the New York Mets to a 5-0 win over Colorado.
Harvey (9-3) started for the 33rd time in his two-year career and needed just 106 pitches in what was also his first complete game. He did not walk a batter and struck out six.
All four hits he allowed were singles and Colorado did not have more than one base runner in any inning.
Omar Quintanilla singled in the first New York run in the second, John Buck had an RBI single in the fourth and Wilmer Flores delivered a three-run double in the eighth.
The loss went to Jhoulys Chacin (10-6), who gave up two runs on seven hits in seven innings.
Colorado lost its fourth in a row and has dropped eight of nine. The Rockies have one game remaining on what has been a dismal 10-game trip to Atlanta, Pittsburgh and New York.
