MLB: Miami 10, Cleveland 0

MIAMI, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Logan Morrison had four of Miami's 16 hits Friday and drove in four runs to help the Marlins cool off Cleveland with a 10-0 rout of the Indians.

Cleveland had an eight-game winning streak come to an end and in six of those eight victories the Indians had scored at least six runs.

They managed only three hits against Jose Fernandez (8-5) in his eight-inning performance, during which he struck out 14. Steven Ames made quick work of the Indians in the ninth to complete the shutout.

Miami built a 5-0 lead through three innings and then piled on five runs in the eighth. Morrison had a two-run triple in the eighth after an RBI double in the first and a run-scoring single in the second.

The loss slipped the Indians three games behind Detroit in the race for the American League Central title.

Miami won its third in a row and continued its recovery from a miserable start to the season. After falling 28 games below .500 on May 30, the Marlins have gone 30-24.
