WASHINGTON, July 31 (UPI) -- Andrea Petkovic ousted No. 6 seed Mona Barthel Wednesday in the only women's match completed before rains suspended play at the Citi Open in Washington.
Petkovic recorded a 6-2, 6-2 victory to become the first and only player thus far to reach the quarterfinals of the women's draw.

Three other matches were postponed until Thursday, including one between top-seeded Angelique Kerber and Melanie Oudin.
Olga Puchkova, who surprised second-seeded Sloane Stephens in the first round, also had her meeting with Paula Ormaechea postponed.
