MLB: Detroit 12, Philadelphia 4

DETROIT, July 28 (UPI) -- Jhonny Peralta's grand slam homer Sunday capped an eight-run sixth inning that gave the Detroit Tigers a 12-4 interleague win and series sweep of Philadelphia.

The big blow came during an uprising in which the Tigers send 11 men to the plate but collected only two hits. They scored twice on bases-loaded walks and added two more runs on Phillies errors.

Matt Tuiasasopo and Victor Martinez each drove in a pair of runs for American League Central-leading Detroit, which stayed three games ahead of second-place Cleveland with its third win in three games against Philadelphia.

Rick Porcello (8-6) went six innings, yielding three runs on seven hits. He walked two and struck out three.

Reliever Jake Diekman (0-1) was tagged with the loss as the reeling Phillies dropped an eighth straight overall.

Darin Ruf and Kevin Frandsen each went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Philadelphia.
