MLS: Philadelphia 1, Vancouver 0

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, July 27 (UPI) -- Antoine Hoppenot scored the game's only goal in the 85th minute Saturday, boosting Philadelphia Union over short-handed Vancouver 1-0.

The Whitecaps played nearly the entire game with only 10 men after midfielder Jun Marques Davidson was handed a red card in the 8th minute, and the Union finally took advantage with 5 minutes left.

On the winning play, Aaron Wheeler fed a back-heel pass to second-half substitute Hoppenot, who made his way into the 6-yard box and sent a shot past Vancouver goalkeeper Brad Knighton.

Philadelphia improved to 9-6-7, while the Whitecaps fell to 9-7-5.
