MLB: Oakland 6, Los Angeles Angels 4

OAKLAND, Calif., July 27 (UPI) -- Jed Lowrie and Stephen Vogt both homered Friday and Bartolo Colon stayed hot in launching Oakland to a 6-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Lowrie drove in three runs with a solo shot in the first and a two-RBI single in the second. Vogt delivered a two-run blast in the sixth to give Oakland a 6-2 lead.

The Athletics won their 60th game of the season, joining Boston and Tampa Bay in having reached that plateau.

Colon (14-3) has suffered only one defeat in his last 14 starts and is tied for the most victories in the American League. He gave up two runs on six hits in seven innings.

Mike Trout hit a two-run homer for the Angels in the first and Los Angeles did not score again until the ninth, when Albert Pujols singled in two runs.

The two ninth-inning runs were charged to Jerry Blevins and Grant Balfour had to come on to get out of the inning and earn his 27th save.
